Hints of cinnamon, clove and citrus in the nose carry though to the initial taste. The initial taste quickly fades to a slightly viscous quality in the body of this spiced rum. There is a pleasant lack of sweetness that allows the orange peel, clove, cinnamon and viscous coconut to come through in the end of the body and into the lingering finish.
The first layer of the finish is dominated by dry cinnamon bark which is quicly replaced by clove and then the slightly acidic citrus rind flavor of orange, tangerine and cooked grapefruit finally yielding to the slightly oily taste of roasted coconut.
Blended with aged rum, the spice is well integrated into the bottled product, but there is no doubt that this is spiced rum.
