Black rum distilled from fermented molasses. Blend of aged Caribbean rums in used whisky and bourbon barrels.
The original Dark and Stormy Rum. Originally bottled by the Gosling family of Bermuda, the name Black Seal came from the black wax seal used to reseal the discarded champagne bottles from the Royal Air Force officer's club during World War II. During the war, bottles were scarce so rum was bottled in recycled bottles. A couple of decades later, the aquatic mammal took over as the brand identity. Today, Gosling's Black Seal Rum continues to be bottled on Bermuda and under license in Bardstown, Kentucky. Of all the rums bottled in multiple locations, the attention to detail and the water in Kentucky makes Gosling's from the two locations almost indistinguishable.
Bottled at 40% alcohol by volume.
