My questions or discussion topic is towards the use of various sweeteners. For example, we have been told by Ed and other that a syrup made from dark sugar is far inferior to something like true cane sugar from the West Indies.
I wouldn't say dark sugar is inferior to anything. There are dark sugars made in the West Indies. Some dark sugars are made by coloring white sugar crystals with caramel to make them dark.
Different but not better. I prefer more natural sugars but like the vast variety of rums, variety is the spice of our lives.
