there, Rod from Scotland here.
I was born & raised in Bermuda till I was 10, and got the love of rum from pouring my Dad's & his mates' drinks back then, Cockspur being the regular drink with Black Seal 80 proof sometimes & Black Seal 151 on special occaissions.
Since growing up to near the age of drinking (& since then to the more experienced drinker) I was first disgusted by the terrible selections of rum in pubs in Scotland, only getting rum worth drinking when we got visitors over from Bermuda, to finding drink stores that sold decent rum.
I'm a lover of good rum, generally favouring the Carribean rums to the South American, but enjoying a try at any good rum.
If anyone's looking for good rum in Glasgow I'd recommend firstly Ivy on St Vincent St, then Blue Dog on West George St. Anyone who knows another bar with a good selection please let me know, that goes for any other City in the UK, I travel a good bit with work & usually the best I can find is a 7yo Havana Club - I'm happy to drink it, but love to try a range.
