Default Plantation Rums

Review: Plantation Grenada 1998 Old Reserve Rum (42 % abv)

When I met Guillaume Lamy of Cognac Ferrand, I was given eight sample bottles, each 200ml in size, which represented a good portion of the Plantation Rum line-up. The Plantation Grenada 1998 (Old Reserve Rum) is the first of these sample bottles which I have chosen to review on my blog:

I have a 1998 Guadeloupe Plantation, an outstanding sipper. I wish to add some others from the same brand if all are the same level of quality.

Default Plantation Barbados 2000 (Old Reserve Rum)

My Second Plantation Review:

The Plantation Barbados Old Reserve 2000 is a Bajan rum blend distilled from both column and traditional pot stills, aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. The rum was transported from Barbados to France by Cognac Ferrand to be placed in used Cognac casks to enhance the rum before it is bottled as part of Cognac Ferrand’s growing line-up of Plantation Rum.

Arctic,

What type of glass is shown in your review? Do you like it over the usual Glencairn?

The glass was given to me by the folks from Plantation Rum when I received my sample bottles. (I have no idea what it is called.) I seem to get nice aromatics from it similar to a Glencairn, but it is smaller which means I have to cut my sample size down to about 1/2 ounce. (In a regular glencain glass my sample size was about 3/4 of an ounce).

In my reviews I will normally use a glencairn, but I have started to use this glass more often as well. I kind of like the elegance the glass embodies.

Default Review: Plantation Nicaragua Rum

The Plantation Nicaragua (1998) Rum is a column distilled rum which has been aged in used bourbon casks. The rum was transported from Nicaragua to France, and then it was aged for a short time in used Cognac casks to enhance the rum before it was bottled as part of Cognac Ferrand's growing line-up of Plantation Rum.

Is Plantation Jamaica 2000 among the 4 bottles not yet reviewed?

Got myself one last week and I must admit it's become a personal favorite already - as a sipping rum of course.
Alas only a few drops remains

The four remaining bottles are the Jamaica 2000, the Trinidad 2000, the Guyana 2000 and the Panama 2000. I may also be reviewing the Anniversary Edition, if the local distributor of Plantation (Yes, Plantation is coming to Alberta) will agree to receive the bottle for me.

Hey Chip,..... let me save you and the Canadian authorities the trouble on the Plantation 20th Anniversary Barbados ,...it's the bomb!.... An A+,... 2 thumbs up!,... 100 out of 100,... a 10.0 (forget what the Russian judge thinks!) ,...whatever anybody thinks. If you love Rum, you at least have to try this one out and judge for yourself.

.....as this Rum was so wisely recommended to me by Joergen;...

I love it!!
After several bottles and numerous comparison tastings, I still can find nothing to disagree with either's recommendation. If it's not my favorite Rum, it's at least one of them. I hope you find it as equally satisfying as I have.
