Rum & Cigars

Few things go together better than a glass of good rum and the right cigar, except maybe more rum.

Default Camacho Cigars partners with Matusalem

I thought this was interesting. It seems like most cigar EVENTS have Scotch as the beverage of choice, I'm glad to see at least one picking rum!

CAMACHO CIGARS PARTNERS WITH MATUSALEM RUM

February 8, 2010, Miami, FL –– Camacho Cigars (www.camachocigars.com) proudly announces its new partnership with Cuba’s oldest rum brand, Matusalem Rum (www.proximospirits.com). Together they will be joining forces for more than 360 nationwide events, which will showcase an array of Camacho cigar brands and Proximo’s, Matusalem Rum.

The partnership will introduce Matusalem Rum, as the official rum of Camacho Cigars. At select events, attendees will be given the opportunity to taste Matusalem Gran Reserva & Matusalem Ron Clasico. Event participants will also receive a Matusalem tasting guide detailing hand-selected Matusalem Rum recipes. “We are very excited to work with Proximo Spirits and Matusalem Rum”, said Dylan Austin, Marketing Director for Camacho Cigars. “Rum has always been synonymous with cigars and I feel that this partnership is a perfect alignment for our two brands.”

“I am very pleased about the partnership between Ron Matusalem and Camacho Cigars,” said Scott Schiller, Marketing Manager for Matusalem Rum. “Our brands share the common legacy of being original Cuban brands of superior quality. I look forward to furthering our brand recognition by being aligned with a respected brand like Camacho Cigars.”

I don't smoke but this is great to see. Products from a given region are often best paired with products from the same region. When Im eating bratwurst and sauerkraut I am not drinking a daiquiri. When people are drinking french wine they are eating cheese, not tacos. I like to pair rum up with chocolate and since cigars are from the same region, its nice to see it paired up with rum instead of scotch.

Depending on your preference the Camacho Connecticut and Corojo are both good smokes, so is the Triple Maduro. Sure to go well with that Matusalem!

Default Vizcaya Rum & Hatuey Cigars: DR's Finest

Ed: I have been trying to foster a connection between these two superior products for the past six months. Hatuey is a family owned business since 1932, originally from Cuba. They create an exceptional smoke at very competitive prices, their very best is only about $12 bucks!!! And of course Vizcaya or is that Ric, speaks for himself. Could be a marriage made in heaven. Let's do get to the bottom of that agricole question or story, though I think it will hardly impact on the beauty of the product either way.

These two looks very nice too. Maybe they have a sampler, because I feel the need to try them all.

Yes, indeed a great pairing, though I usually have scotch with my Montecristo Media Noche. I think I'll try this combination.
