OK... we tried it. Not bad....i will say that its better than regular Capt Morgan and maybe edges Sailor Jerry a little too. There was a flavor in it I couldnt put my finger on. I had to taste it a few times and still I couldnt identify what I was tasting...something very familiar. It was quickly identified by my better half after her first taste....this Rum tastes like the old candy BOTTLECAPS! On further tastes she is right!! It really does taste like the old cola bottlecaps from when I was a kid!!
Wow..its not my favorite rum but at 11.49 and a 10$ rebate...its pretty damn tasty!! Anyone else get that sugary bottlecap taste?

...shes here.....hide the Rum!!

I just picked up a bottle of this - $11 followed by a $10 rebate, so certainly the cheapest bottle I've ever purchased. Haven't yet opened it, but CycloneX's experience gives me some hope. My expectations otherwise weren't very high at all.

Default That flavor.

I picked up a bottle of Blackheart a few weeks ago on a whim, and I gotta tell ya - not bad. I tried it mixed with cola, straight; and the preferred way I found was with a few cubes of melting ice. It seemed to mellow it out a bit. Not a harsh finish but the water blended with it nicely. I'm not too acquainted with the cola bottle caps but the smell reminded me of cherry, bubble gum or Dr. Pepper. Not sure which. Anyway, the price $12.99, the rebate $10.00. Can't beat it.

Got a bottle several weeks ago and have tried it several times. must agree that it is better with ice to water it down. Like sailor jerry with coke but not by itself . do not care for blackheart mixed with a coke.

Blackheart is great in mixed drinks...

I set up a blind test of Blackheart with Sailor Jerry's, Cruzan spiced 9, and C. Morgan a few months ago.

I had just read a review of spiced rums that liked Sailor Jerry's and Cruzan spiced 9 so I ran off to the liquor store to try those out. While I was there I decided to add C. Morgan since that was my favorite back in college. The Blackheart caught my eye and was half the price of the others so I figured I'd give it a try.

I set up 8 glasses with labels on the bottom of the glass for each brand. Then I mixed 4 rum and cokes and made 4 rum on the rocks. Then I mixed everything up for a couple minutes until I was sure that I did not know where anything was. I then had a (small) sample of each of the rums on the rocks and sorted them by preference. Then my wife and I tried the rum and cokes and sorted them.

On the rocks my order was:
Sailor Jerry
Cruzan 9
C. Morgan

In the mixed drinks my wife and I sorted them like this:
Cruzan 9
Sailor Jerry
C. Morgan

I would not sip it but in a mixed drink I really like Blackheart. And It's about half the price as the others at my local store.
