Default A History of the World in 6 Glasses

A fun, historical read by Tom Standage.

Rum gets quite a nod in chapters 5-6.
We made the top 6 bevies that shaped the world--Though that should not surprise the MoR crowd.

Definitily worth a look.

You beat me to this one RRI.

The entire book is fascinating. From the first chapter where we learn that drunkards built the pyramids; to the the sordid tale of the sugar-rum-slave trading triangle; all the way to cola wars of the 20th century.

I even learned that the word rum was originally called 'kill devil". The word 'rum' actually stems from a slang English word 'rumbullion'. But I'll let you get the book to work that one out.

Great Book. Nice going Rum Runner Imports for bringing it up.

Oh...thank you AW. I guess I missed this before.

Yes, 6 glasses was a good read, I'll probably skim it again over the winter.

Cheers
