Clиment Vieux Agricole

I bought this one today after work, i said i was not going to be able to keep my hands off this one.. and I find this rum agricole really nice..its more refined in the taste than the others i have but its nice..and that lovely crisp fresh grassiness is there, but a bit more subtle.
Its also some citrus and burnt sugar in this.
I made a ti punch with the palmsugar and it tastes like some good brown sugar, a very round full flavorful taste.
I also like the bottle very much. This will be my favorite agricole for now.

I agree with you it is a very nice rum. I received a sample of this recently and have now reviewed it.

a nice standard rhum agricole which can be used to compare others. The new bottle is a great improvement.

Nothing wrong with the straw wrapping. I like both.

I guess they changed all their bottles. I don't like the new Premiere Canne bottle much mostly because of its frosted glass. It looks like it's trying to be a vodka bottle.

I still haven't tried any of the Clement agricoles, though. Which one should I start with?

From a marketing standpoint, the publc LOVES its vodkas in frosted bottles. I think its valiant that they approach it this way. I am all in favor of trying to reach the general public in introducing them to rhum agricole.

This a a good solid agricole. I tasted this, and drank a bit of it in the islands about a year ago. I chose to return with Clement 10 ans 'd age, and the Cuvee Charles. The 10 has become one of my favorite agricoles. Since I have Neisson and La favorite rhum vieux, which I like better, I chose the 2 Clements that are hard to find, at least in the US.

Hank, Is the Rhum Clement VSOP similar to the Cuvee Charles? I know that the proof is high than the VSOP.

Yes, the Cuvee comes in at 88 proof, which gives it a bit of an edge. It is not as smooth as the VSOP, but once you get past the edginess, is has a great profile. I could say that the Cuvee is a little more raw, allowing the cane juice flavor to really come through, while the VSOP is a touch more polished. A 90 proof version of the VSOP would be interesting.
I like to make a modified Punch Vieux with the Cuvee, using a very small amount of cane syrup, and a very small wedge of lime.
