Default Howdy from Los Angeles

Just wanted to say hi - I'm just getting started on my rum tasting career - it all started with a bottle of St. James Amber given to me by a friend and then this weekend I had a flight at Ciudad near downtown LA after drinking a couple of Pyrat mojitos (they are very good at Ciudad). The flight was Flor de Cane, Pampero Aniversario, and another I can't remember (not due to excess exhuberance)

After that I found this board and am looking forward to putting together my first flight for a party I have coming up.

Here's what I am thinking of (let me know what you think):
Prichard's Crystal
St. James Amber
Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 Yr

Plan on serving neat with simple syrup, lime wedges and ice cubes to add as needed.

Cheers

Welcome to the forums. Ciudad is a great place and the bartenders are very proud of their mojitos.

If you liked the St James Ambre you owe it to yourself to find a bottle of La Favorite Ambre or Neisson ESB. There's nothing like a ti' punch with rhum agricole.

Welcome to the Ministry!

We should really consider doing a get-together of some sort for the SoCal Ministry members.

Cool guys - thanks for the welcome. I am going down to Beverage Warehouse to grab my rum and they have these two agricoles in stock so I'll check one of them out.

I live in Echo Park so it's very close to Ciudad - lucky me!

Dood - that sounds cool. Let me get some sea legs under me regarding rum appreciation and then let's have some sort of tasting/party. How many SoCal folks are on this board?

A happy note: I stopped in at the liquor store just down the street from me and they have dramatically increased their rum selections:
Ron Zacapa 23yr
Pyrat XO
Flor de Caсa
etc...

Pretty cool.
