Default Oronoco vs 10 Cane for sipping

As a sipping rum I've made up my mind, Oronoco all the way. This is after several "tests".

10 Cane makes a mighty fine mojito though…

Just curious, what prompted you to select these two as your either or?

Well, I'd have to agree. The Oronoco blows the 10 Cane out of the proverbial water IMO. The difference in sippability is astronomical.

Then again, as far as sippable whites, Oronoco blows just about everything out of the water...

Get a bottle of Dipomatico's new mature white rum. It changed my mind about my favorite great white.

I will have to throw my vote in for 10 Cane. Oronoco is really nice, but I find it seems to added added vanilla. I find the 10 Cane more to my taste, a more raw rum flavor.

I have been trying to find this elusive rum, as its mammoth reputation seems to proceed it. I would love to know where one may find it? I'm wondering if it has already been released in California. Where did you purchase yours, if I may ask?

Many thanks,
Nancy

Just looking around for a nice sippable white. I was at the liquor store buying a bottle of Oronoco which I really like and I saw an airline bottle of 10 Cane. A cheaper way to do a little taste test. They are about the same price here. This is the second time I've done this test and both times I came to the same conclusion.

I can understand the last comment - we described 10 Cane as more "bourbony". No accounting for taste in this world - thankfully.

I'll the Robert Burr suggestion a try.

O.k. was just curious - I wouldn't necessarily consider those yolked similarly. Like you, I prefer Oronoco. Diplomatico white, I've yet to come across - but will be on the look out for - thanks for the reminder, Robert.

Interestingly, after having a glass of 10 Cane over lunch about a month ago, I decided to compare the two. I went out and purchased a bottle of 10 cane, brought it home and sampled it alongside Oronoco. I concluded, as others have, that Oronoco is the better rum for sipping.

I then decided to try something a little creative, and I added a splash of Captain Morgan's 100 proof to the 10 Cane - the rest of the day was quite enjoyable!

Just got my first bottle of Oronoco the othe day. I'm in love.

Haven't tried the 10 Cane yet, that's on my list of rums to try.
