Talking Drink up me hearties yo ho

Greetings from Southern California! I love rum drinks and am always looking for a great new drink to try. I loved the rum while in Jamaica (Appleton 21)and Hawaii but I know there are more to try. Any ideas?

Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post my introduction, sorry if I'm at the wrong place. I've browsed through this site here and there for a few years now, but only tonight decided to join.

I woke up to rum 10 years ago on the east coast of Jamaica. Now just about every trip I take in this world must be to a destination with coconut trees. My trips always conclude with me returning home with a suitcase of various rums.

I like rum straight, with water and beer on the side. Premium rums are nice, but I often find myself reaching for the labels I saw the locals drink.

Good evening chaps!
Been looking for an authoritative website about rum, and it looks like I've found it.
I'm just learning for now. Been drinking rum occasionally for years, and now staring to get into it. The cocktail that did it was a mojito made with Havana Club 7 years, sipped in a Japanese bar. It was by far the best mojito I've had, and I've had a lot of those in many different places.
Since then I've been purchasing some rums and started to build what I hope will be a decent collection. That's why I'm paying a lot of attention to what is being said on this forum.
I live in Asia, and finding rum isn't easy if you're a snob like me and don't want to drink Bacardi unless you have to.
Glad to be on board.

Alright, I know, i know, ARRR as a name is really not very original on a Rum site. i'm not a Pirate, (I'm a Banker). Oh wait.......... Perhaps there is a correlation.
My grandpa always asked, "Why drink anything else if you have Rum?"
and so it's mainly all he drank. (Passed away from cirrhosis) Bless his soul. thus my introduction to the spirit.
Hobbies: Rum and Coke and floating in my boat with family & friends; Rum and Water, Vacation in southern hemishere, (Mojitos), Golf, RumBalls, Poker, (or Rummy 500) (with Rum straight up) and watching pirate movies.

Seriously, Your site is an excellent resource and i look forward to my learnings and the company of the like minded.

Default Very pleased to be here.

I am a professor of Music, a tenor. I also sing professionally, classical music.

I have read some of the threads for a few months and been advised by Ed once when asked-many thanks! I have been a wine drinker for many years and am relatively "new" to rum. I am looking forward to learning more.
