Default Another Boston area rum drinker

Hey- new guy here.

Fairly inexperienced rummy I suppose- I have tried ~ a dozen or so, but i know I like the stuff. I'm always on the look out for good tasting drinkable rums - things i can have straight or on the rocks.

I've recently been trying out all sorts of new liquors and liqueurs, but rum will always be my first love.

Hoping to find some other boston area rum fans who might have some good tips on availability and other rum-related points of interest.

welcome aboard my man, you'll find a bunch of bean town people here, actually a lot that have joined lately. As for me although Im Mass. in heart Im living hartford so a 2hr. drive from your area. If you're looking for a whole in the wall shop try federal wine and spirits in downtown Boston. I put it up in another post and others will have their shops as well.

Welcome to the forums. I'm trying to schedule a trip to Boston to host a small tasting in the coming months. I expect to be able to set a date in the next couple of weeks. I'm looking at early October, but need to set a date and a place.

Edward-

That would be fantastic! I'm trying to convince my wife to go to the NYC event in OCT but we have a scheduling conflict. I'd love to meet up and drink some rum! Post it as soon as you pick a date...

Cletus-

Welcome!!

I too have recently graduated up from the basics of rum drinking- Goslings, Sailor Jerry, and Cruzan White! There's a whole world of rum out there!

Good to see more Boston folks on here!

Whatever I do in Boston won't be as extensive as the New York Ministry of Rum Festival but it will give me more of a chance to meet the people who came to learn and taste some of the various rums that are available.

Ed I'd love a Boston event, especially in October. We'd either be drowning our sorrows or singing "Dirty Water" by the Standells, all depending on how the redsox are doing! Penguin I don't think my wife is going to make it either, do yourself a favor and go anyway. It will be a blast and if you have to use the "guys night out card" well it will be worth it.

Thought of that Ron, but it's something we're trying to enjoy together, so I really want her to be part of it. She loves Halo and Call of Duty on Xbox 360, so she's up for most stuff that I want to try......
