First Legal Bottle

In approximately six hours, the United States of America will believe that I am old enough to drink products containing ethanol.* In honor of this august occasion, I needs must pick up a bottle of rum. Thoughts?

Also, in honor of this occasion, I am launching a blog containing the story of my entry into the world of the consumption of spirits. It may be found at:

It won't be confined to rum, but as rum is my spirit of choice, there should be a fair amount of material related to that spirit, including reviews, etc.

If the 21 year old rums can't be located, an American beverage might be appropriate. How about Rittenhouse 21 year old Rye, Black Maple Hill 21 year old Bourbon or Vintage 21 year old Bourbon or Rye from Kentucky Bourbon Distillers?

I say empty your wallet and fill your glass with whatever the best you can find, as you crawl through the looking glass, only to return bedazzled by the chemistry that has taken place in your head...To be savoured in later years as an experience that begat a life of appreciation of those milestones that count.

And, you can't enjoy wonderful rums throughout your entire adult lifetime unless you begin discovering fine cane spirits when you turn 21. Cheers on your path to enlightenment.

Since neither of my local liquor stores had any 21 year old bottles, I had to forgo the pleasure of shelling out a Benjamin for a bottle. Instead I got a nice bottle of Pampero Anicersario, Bullet bourbon, and a decent bottle of port. Reviews for all will make their way onto my blog, but I started with what I had on hand earlier, which was a bottle of cider. (Well, and D&S's the night before.) Thus, it'll take a while to get all the reviews and travel notes up.
