This thread is for posting your the first kiss of a new rum.
Last night it was Oronoco White.
Tonight I am enjoying my first taste of Barcelo Imperial.

Yes Tiare, I appreciate your situation. We both love Rhum Agricole, and there are so many lovers........My latest first kiss was Clement Cuvee Homere.....
Delicious.

My first Appleton Estate 12..............WOW!!!! This is good! Something in it reminds me a little of Mount Gay Extra Old but this one feels more leathery and smoky (?) . Quite a lot of camphor in it too! I'm definately a good experience richer!!!
Edit: the glass is empty now and it is in dire need to be refilled. The empty glass smells of lovely moist pipe tobacco. Sorry for going on and on waxing about it but this is really good stuff!

Cheaters! Or is that Swingers!
I've been reluctant to open anything recently and the suspense has been killing me. I have just too much going on that is already open.
Off the top of my head I have 8 bottles that I'm not familiar with that are un-opened. On top of those probably another 4 or 5 that I've either had a limited sample of or it's been quite some time and hints of possible profile changes etc.
That's one of the peeves I have with this hobby. By the time I'll likely be in a good position to justify opening all of them, who's to say they'll still taste the same (if I want to replace any of them), or still be available / in existence, etc.

Finally got around to really trying my bottle of FDC 12. I picked it up (bargain price of $20) at High Time. I tried a sip when I got it home, but had a cold and didn't really get it then. My first impression last night: a pleasant coffee note. I haven't done with the tasting yet, but my dram last night was far better than I expected, as I bought the bottle only because it seemed such a good deal, and not because I had high expectations. I am coming to really enjoy the South American variants, both those from Venezuela and the Guatemalans, and now, it seems, this rum from Nicaragua. Venezuela strikes me as a great place to make rum. Every thing in my collection from there comes up golden to my tastes.
