We just brought it in. I tried it and liked it. I thought it was going to be a little hotter, but was really smooth. Don't think I could drink too much of it, though.

Joe, I have GOT to get down to your store. You seem to be the Wine and Liquor mecca of the DC metro area. It may be never though if we keep getting pummeled with all of this snow.

We "Released the Kraken!" last night and I must say, it was excellent! We first tried it on the rocks, very good flavors and very smooth, surprisingly so. We than made cuba libres, it mixed very well and the spices (I noticed a good vanilla flavor that went well in the cola. We also made a new drink that we named a "squidbow". It also complimented dessert very well, which was grilled fruit with a rum glaze :P I will have to do a side by side against Sailor Jerry, but I think I found a new favorite spiced rum.

2oz chilled Kraken rum
fill the rest of the glass with strongbow hard cider.

Grilled pineapple glaze
1/2 cup of dark or spiced rum (I used Pyrat xo reserve as I thought the orange undertones would compliment the glaze.)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 honey (use real honey only)
1/4 orange juice (I used a pineapple/orange juice blend.

The recipe called for only pineapple, but I used pineapple, mango, banana, kiwi and peaches; they were excellent. The fruits that worked the best where the pineapple, banana and the peaches. Mango were ok, just a lot of work and the kiwis were too soft and a couple fell of the skewers.

This is some good stuff.

I contacted the company and asked when they would be available here in NC and they said it should be on the shelves now. So I went to the ABC and boom here she was. Working on bottle #2 after a few months.

The company also mailed me a shirt, and it looks cool as hell. They are a class act.

I must say at 94 proof it doesn't seem to sneak up on you like Sailor Jerry does.

I do think the Kraken is a great mixer, and my friends love how the shots go down.

Good stuff. Will be on my shelf at all times right next to Sailor Jerry.
