I picked up a bottle of this a few weeks ago...definitely has some flavor to it. Don't really feel it's a neat option...Anyone have any good suggestions besides ginger or coke?

Thanks

Although Proximo hasn't been anxious to say much about the origins of Kraken, here is the information that I have been able to confirm.

Try it in a Hot Buttered Rum or in Egg Nogg. Those have been my most common uses in December.

I had it in a toddy the other night and wasn't particularly impressed, but in the other 2 it really works quite well.

Believe it or not, I've paired the Kraken with Oronoco for a new spin on the Mai Tai. Delicious!

That's not one I would have thought of.

I'm simultaneously intrigued and repulsed.

i made a flip with it and it was tasty! (read here..)

Kraken Flip

1 1/2 Oz of Kraken
1 oz of Rum Chata
1 Egg

** Dash of Angostura Bitters
** Optional- 1/2 - 3/4 oz of Goslings 151
(If you want it to kick. . .)
** If you are looking for a sweeter drink skip the Goslings and add a dash of Cane syrup

Just tried a bottle tonight. First sip was neat. I agree with some of the other posts that it needs to be a mixer, but then again I usually don't like spiced rum neat anyway. It is good with a coke, or ginger beer. It is unusual and definately more interesting than Captain Morgan, and at only $19.99 it's a keeper. The bottle is an eyecatcher too. I like to bring something new to a party!

Ed, I just KNEW that it has to have an Angostura rum connection. As soon as I read the back label and read, "Lawrenceburg, Indiana", I knew that it had to be LDI. I mean, really, who else COULD it have been?

Joe, you selling the Kraken at your store? I can't find it anywhere in MD, at least the 270 corridor.
