Default Hello from Maryland

Hello all, I'm very new to rum. I've always been a beer drinker and have gotten into the whole craft brew thing. But I started tiring on it and wanted to branch out.

I started looking for my big boy drink and started looking at the various spirits. I started out with bourbon and while I like Makers, bourbon isn't really my thing. I moved on to Irish Whiskey and it's so smooth that I could really get in trouble with that. Next was rum. I'm really enjoying that there's so much variability in what rum is available. I'd be lying if I didn't say that I like that there's so much rum available at a reasonable price.

I stumbled onto the rum project and followed his advice to go through an entire bottle of Mt. Gay to get an idea of what rum is supposed to be like. I've done that and moved on to several other bottles of rum. That brings me here.

I look forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Default Welcome

If you're anywhere near Glen Burnie, you might want to look into The Mutiny Pirate Bar and Island Grill's selection of Rum. There's not much that they can get from the Maryland Distributors that they don't have on the shelf. Get their Rum Passport and sample your way around the world.

I'm up near Bel Air, but drive down to the Columbia area every day, so Glen Burnie isn't far off. I'll take a look at The Mutiny Pirate Bar.

I was at the Mutiny Bar last week and plan to do a tasting there sometime this summer or fall. It was great to meet so many people who share my passion for sugar cane spirits.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.
