Getting around the islands can be half the adventure of discovering new rum.

Default Cayman Bound.

I'm off to the Cayman Islands early next month for a few days. I have a visit set up at "Seven Fathoms Rum", that is the rum that is aged underwater. Does anybody have any other suggestions or recommendations (Legal ones only please) that would be fun.

I'd try to take a look at the Tortuga Rum Cake factory. You probably won't see much but it would be interesting to see what they're saying about Tortuga Rum Cakes and their rum.

There is also a rum from the Caymans called Big Black Dick rum, I wonder what they're saying, if anything, about that one.

Ed, I sent an e-mail to Tortuga but did not get a reply, but will pay them a visit as there is a bottle of theirs I am looking for. I have a bottle of BBD rum. We were offered the chance to carry it but declined!!
There was a bar mentioned on here that had some rum flights, will hunt that down one afternoon.
I am looking forward to visiting 7 Fathoms, the smaller guys are usually more interesting.

I found the rum flights bar:-

I got a reply from Tortuga Rums today and hope to have a meeting set up with the owners of the company, Robert and Carlene Hamaty. The rum is not bottled in Cayman but hope to learn more about the rum and rum cake production. The rum for the glaze on the cakes is poured straight from the barrel!! Now that is what I want to see and taste first hand.
This is looking like a good trip!!

Big Black Dick Rum, now normally I don't buy a rum for the label or bottle, but this one I'd make an exception. My brother's face would be priceless if I asked him if he wanted a drink made with this one.

Hi All, As we had e-mailed, it was great to see you again, Rumelier. We also had the pleasure of meeting Uncleneeko when he was here with his wife! Just wanted to say that I believe that the Hammatys from Tortuga are actually Jamaican. There is also a Tortuga Rum cake factory 5 minutes from Montego Bay.
We are intrigued by the rum that is aged underwater. And the other one...wonder what the bottle looks like?!
