Default Favorite inexpensive sippers

Hello,

I've been reading old posts, including "Favorite Sippers," and am interested in recommendations for favorite sippers for, say, under $20.

Does such a thing exist, or is that category best for mixers?

The list of imports available at my local, state-run emporium is here:

http://www.abc.state.va.us/Pricelist...IMPORTED).html

I've been reading all the reviews here and at a couple of other sites and comparing these to the list. Beats working!

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you've been busy but believe me this is work! And it's time for a drink.

I've had a look through your list, and the one that stands out is Barbancourt 5 star (8 year old) - a very inexpensive sipper. I wish it was that inexpensive in London.

Mr. E.H.: Thanks for the welcome--so much work to do and so little time!

Hello Berbician, thanks for taking the time to look at the list. I see the Rhum Barbancourt is priced just above $20, but we're still probably spoiled in the U.S. compared to U.K. prices.

I've been doing some reading based on your recommendation (part of the fun, for me anyway):

http://www.ministryofrum.com/rumdetails.php?r=13
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhum_Barbancourt
http://www.bilgemunky.com/reviews/ru...ancourt8yr.php (Mr. Munky prefers the 15-year to the 8)
http://www.refinedvices.com/Rhum-Barbancourt-8-Years

I'll be looking forward to my first informed rum purchase!

The Angostura 1919 is an amazing sipper, and at $28 is a great price! Under $20, the Brugal Anejo is decent, that might be my choice.

Not sure how far you are from the Maryland Border but they have a much larger selection of rum available there.

Just a few of mine:
Botran 8 yr
Ocumare Anejo
Diplomatico Reserva
St James Ambre
Appleton VX
Black Seal
Cruzan 5 yr
Cruzan Blackstrap

Nothing on the list stands out, but the delicious Ron Abuelo Añejo 7 Años is available through mail order at that price point.

Cacique 500 from Venezuela might be a good choice. Not sure if found i US but is quite present in Europe.

Hehe. For $9.00 you can (or could) buy Plantation Grand Reserve at Hi Time. That one wins my all time best deal award, and yes, I will sip it.

All gone, Lew. But, they do have the 1.75L for $27.
