Default Cruzan light Rum Ultimate taste test

For those of you may not have realize this, due to the success of Cruzan Rum Light, V&S has decided that it would be in their best interest to cut down the again process from 24 to 14 months. Surely that has to affect the quality of this great rum mixer.

I was thinking since the 2year version might still be readily available, and the rum is relatively cheap, it would be kind of cool to do a cyber rum tasting. Each person purchase both the old and new version of the Cruzan light rum and on one of these weekend nights we taste both versions and chat about our opinions on the rum. See how significant the difference in taste is.

The good news is, I guess, that no other rum in their product line will affected by this stupid managment move to cut down on aging.... for now.

For the last few years, it has been my practice to buy Cruzan Light by the case for mixing. After tasting the NEW, I don't plan on buying any more.

doubt it. It's all about the almight dollar and satisfying the uninformed (and unknowing masses).

Too bad they decided to cut corners.

That is very sad. I am about through with a family size of the 2yr light and have been really impressed. Makes a tasty Mojito, Rum & Tonic and my hybrid cocktail...

The other weekend I did up my daiquiris in the Cruzan 2 year light, and they were good. Back to the drawing board!

I have to try it for myself. I am a big fan of Cruzan.

Is the new 14 month light available now? If so, where did you see it?

I've seen a few BevMo's with only the newer 14 month. Then, in others, a mix of 2 year and 14 month. HiTimes has only the newer 14 month, now. But, most other stores have the 2 year still on shelves. I just bought 10 cases of the 1.75L bottles and had to order from 4 stores to do it.

The stores with higher volume will sell out first, so the farther you are from the biggest cities the better your chance of finding the two year old rum.
