Latest info from Appleton rep here in NYC is that timing should be August/September for the A30 release.

If so that's a hell of premature press release they put out last year. Would be self-defeating to have done so that early.

Sorry for the non-response Rumelier - I don't check this section of the board as often as I should I guess. To answer your question - yes, it was this year...but that information was as of last April. This is the exact message I received:

Still no final word. However, rumor has it that we will be bottling in May which means availability in US late summer – August/September.

I sent another email to see if there is any update....stay tuned.

OK - I just heard back and here's an update hot of the press this morning from the NYC rep for Appleton:

Hello Joe,

Yes, the 30 year old is still on schedule for release in July/August. My current estimate is ship mid-July and available in stores in August.

Stay tuned.

Actually, wait a minute...I'm not sure why I'm sharing this info with you all....

I finally got some 30 Y.O. info via my liquor store friend. He spoke to the local distributors last week. It seems we will be getting a very minuscule allocation. Probably a handful will go to top flight venues, a couple for distributor tasting purposes, and possible 2 unallocated bottles. We may in fact it seems be better off inquiring through the NZ distributor as it seems they are the master distributor for the region and likely to get a better allocation than Oz does. Ironically, it seems the distributor wasn't even aware of the 30th and asked my friend how I knew about it. It's scary when the customer knows more than the local distributor!

I am reliably informed the delay in the 30 year old is a bottling issue. Turns out the closure didn't fit the bottle properly and the whole thing had to be tweaked.

Should be out by the end of the year. Don't know if that means it'll be a 31 year old now

Paul if it's now 31 years old does that make it worth more
It's out, but I guess to very little fanfare. I think I'm going to open it tonite.
Surprised each bottle wasn't numbered, just a little certificate in an envelope with a wax seal. Hopefully the rum will make up for this lack of individuality.
