Default Sandals Jamaica resorts drops J.Wray & Nephew for El Dorado

This has got to be HUGE news down there: http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/busin...illers_7821730
To me, this would be like the city of Detroit, Michigan deciding to give a contract for all city vehicles and taxis to Honda, and not Ford. Gotta be a huge blow to the image and prestige of JW&N. The article shows that hundreds of thousands of people stay at the various Sandals resorts each year, and that's a tremendous opportunity for Demerara Distillers, Ltd to make new fans and get renewed brand exposure at the expense of Appleton.

Frankly, I'm a little surprised that the Jamaican government doesn't require that contracts of this nature be awarded to the local businesses, but perhaps DDL just underbid JW&N in fair contract competition?

Good news for DDL; their El Dorado rums deserve wider recognition.

Thanks for the link Joe.
This is huge news for W&N. I wonder why Butch is doing this. It is strange to be dropping a Jamaican rum and picking up a Guyanese rum. Can only be for the money!!

Sandal's operates on several islands so it is a combination of price, equality and availability
