I just made my first Palmetto with the 1888.
The recipe was
1 1/4 oz aged rum (this time, Brugal 1888)
1 1/4 oz sweet vermouth (this time, the Dolin Sweet Vermouth)
2 dashes orange bitters (this time, angostura orange bitters)
stirred
orange or lemon twist (this time orange)
It's a wonderful cocktail! Since this was my first Palmetto (I think ;-),
I will have to try another with a different rum to gauge the level of wonderfulness relative to the Brugal.
But, yes, I do recommend trying this.
