Rum out of Haiti
Not wanting to sound insensitive or politically incorrect considering what has just taken place in Haiti, but would the recent events affect the supply of Barbancourt 15 year old. Should we be stocking up on supplies?

Doods,
It is a great read and I am inspired to raise a glass and make a donation to Haiti. I am going to encourage a few friends to join me in the noble toast.
"To Haiti and the people"

I can only hope that they will weather this like they've weathered other disasters in the past. Certainly there will some damage and disruption of supplies out of and into Haiti. I understand that the port is closed at the moment. Depending on the damage, this may just mean that the rum has aged longer which was the case in the 80s when Haiti was being blockaded.

What a sad story to read about the aftermath of this natural disaster. Haiti continues to suffer from wounds, some self inflicted and others from Mother Nature as this one.
The little Island I live on has already begun a relief effort. The Caribbean has a history of pulling together in times of dire need...No matter the cultural, political or language differences.

I know Americans often seem to get the brunt of many criticisms, but when things like this happen it is usually the Americans who are the first to respond, be it material or monetary. It's not even so much at the government level, but at the individual level... everyone contributing in their own little way that mobilizes the whole country.
To me, that is the American way.

The Wine Compass blog reported that the proprietors of Babancourt are safe, but no word on the distillery - and I presume staff.
