Default Hello from the Tucson, AZ area

Hi everyone,

I Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jamie and I live in the Tucson, Arizona area. I'm currently finishing my graduate studies and work in the mining industry.

I generally drink mainly single malt scotch and cognac/brandy, however, I "recently" became acquainted with rum after someone recommended a few different bottles to me (Zaya, Ron Zacapa 23). Since then, I've added a few others: Pyrat Cask 1623, Appleton Estate 30 YO, Mt. Gay Extra Old, Mt. Gay 1703, Ron Zacapa XO, Ron Matusalem Reserva, etc.

The one thing I've learned about rum, is that there seems to be an endless variation in flavors that one simply cannot get bored.

I've learned quite a bit while visiting this site in the past as a "lurker" and hope to continue to do so as a member.

very nice rum resume.

Do you do most of your rum shopping at Rum Runners in Tucson? Another nice store is Magee Rd Liqours in Oro Valley.

Welcome to the forums Jamie. There's nothing like a glass of rum at the end of a day in the mines.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. JMac, I was unaware there is RumRunner in Tucson. Actually, I've gotten a lot of my rums by ordering online. I really need to stop that however, as the shipping costs can be a killer especially if buying only a bottle or two.

I'm now looking at the RumRunner site. I know what I will be doing this weekend.

I discovered it by accident myself. I was with family and we were trying to find this dinner theatre place and were lost...then voila RumRunners.

You should also try Magee Liquors in Oro Valley. The owner is more of a tequila fan but has a good selection of rums.
