Whether you call them, clear, silver, white or simple 'see through' how do you drink them?

Default Seagram's rum - anyone tried it?

Hello all,

According to the local liquor store guy, Seagram's rum is being closed out, so they are selling 750ml bottles for around $5. I usually equate price with quality (to a certain degree), but that is quite an attractive price. LOL

Has anyone here tried it and lived to tell the tale? I am a mixer, if that matters.

As always, thank you for taking the time to reply.

I use Seagram's Smooth Brazilian as one of my PREFERRED mixers. Sorry to hear that it is not doing well. My suggestion would be to buy it.

It's a delicious midway stop between an agricole and a cachaca. Even at $10 a 750ml, it was a good value.

Thanks very much for the feedback! Looks like I'll be grabbing a bottle o' this on my next foray into the liquor store.

I agree - it is quite good. I am surprised that it is being discontiued so soon - I had not heard anything here. Perhaps it is just going to be carried at your store? Anyone else hear any rumors?

Try one, and if you like it, I'd stock up - it is certainly a HIGH quality mixer and even does ok over ice!

Not a big fan, but as a light mixer or if you sweeten the hell out of it in a caipirinha/caipirinissima, $5 a bottle is a hard deal to turn down.

That is sage advice for only $5 and you get a bottle of rum with the advice.

I'd never seen it before here in Oregon, but lo and behold, I spotted some yesterday at a local liquor store. $13 a bottle, so not quite as attractive as $5.

Just picked up a bottle in Columbus. So it's still available in Ohio. $9.10. The smell and taste remind me of Southeastern Ohio moonshine.

I bought a bottle of this about 6 months ago and honestly I've been afraid to drink it. It has weird flotsam at the bottom of the bottle that makes me think it was poorly filtered. The bottle has a proper seal on it still but it's been forlornly sitting in my closet (not even my rum cabinet) for a while now. When I moved I poured out some of my bad rum [never EVER buy Bacardi Select btw] but couldn't bring myself to throw this out because I hadn't ever even tried it. Now the last place that I could find this rum has discontinued selling it, so I'm even more confused about it. I don't want to pour a rum that no longer exists down the drain, but I'm still nervous about it. Was this normal for the bottle?

At the time I purchased it the price was $2.99 from Total Wine & More, so either way it won't be a loss to me. Just looking for opinions.
