Default The holidays are approaching, what's on your list

For the last few weeks I've gotten more than the usual number of emails asking what rum I would suggest to buy a rum enthusiast.

If you've spent much time on these forums you know that there a good bottle of rum doesn't have to break the bank. On the other hand, there are rums that aren't available everywhere that are much appreciated by rum lovers.

I've listed a few of the Ministry of Rum member favorites on the front page, here are a few more.

El Dorado 21
Abuelo 7
Santa Teresa 1796

What would you add to the list?

Well it has a lot to do with the price range obviously. I like to receive as a gift something I wouldn't buy myself. The best gift is a rum I would like to try but find a little bit expensive to not like it.

Two months ago it would have been the Brugal Siglo de Oro, but I finally got it. Other choices would be Pyrat 1623, Santoro 21, Appleton Estate Legacy , Mount Gay 1703 and those expensive agricoles by Chantal Comte.

Vizcaya VXOP is very nice. Barbancourt 15yr is a treat. I hear that Hispaniola Mamajuana is now being distributed in the states, and that is a really different and interesting (as well as inexpensive) rum.

check Hitime wine. I believe Forrest does the write up for the rums there but I could be wrong. As for xmas presents. Its sad to say but most people are just looking for a quick gift for someone. Im thinking of all those relatives I send a gift to everyyear and I don't really spend that much time with, not that I want to. Alas, I must promote the Bacardi 8 anos. Its easier to get, is a steal for around 20bucks, and I'd be a lot happier with it than a shirt or tie.

I don't know how they will price the English Harbour 25 in Edmonton but it ranges from $188 (Willow Park) to $225 (various outlets) in Calgary.

English Harbour 25 Year Old is $299.00 from Hi-Time, but lacks any description at all on their website.

I've never seen Bounty in the UK - can't speak for the rest of Europe.
