Bars that appreciate RUM

A growing number of bars appreciate rum, and and we appreciate them.

Lew,

there is a thread hiding out somewhere about "Whats stores to go to for rums in LV" The answer was that outside the casinos and clubs, the rum selection was piss-poor and over-priced.

I have to attend tradeshows usually 2-3 times a year (have for the past 9 years), so that's put me in Vegas roughly 25 times in that span. Last time at Rum Jungle was last October.

Hip, chic, trendy - yes, girls seemingly dancing in "air" everywhere around you, and yup - there is more "something" and RedBull sold than anything else, and my guess too would be Vodka.

It's a name of a bar, and nothing more unfortunately, for those who really love rum.

The big thing at Rum Jungle is if it is after 10PM, who manages to get in quickly versus who stands in line, "like a rummy".

I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago...I wanted to go to the Rum Jungle, but after taking a peek, I took a pass. I am not much into the club scene.

I would however recommend a place in the same hotel called Red Square, it is a Russian themed place and the beef stroganoff was out of this world. As you can likely guess they only have mainly vodka, and many kinds at that.

We went to a nice bar in the Bellagio in the center of the casino where they made a great Mojito, the best i have had. And there was another place called level 43 or something like that, a very high end bar and they served some nice drinks too...though pricey.

I posted previously on this topic about good places to buy Rum, there is nothing on the strip period, dont bother trying to find anything, its a waste of time. The duty free at the airport sucks for selection.

Have fun

To be honest, it's been many years since I have gone to Vegas to have fun.
It's such a cartoon. One had hopes!

A very fitting description! A great way to describe Vegas in five words or less! I have neighbors who went recently (I think it was November), you might remember the incident from national news. I want to say this was over Thanksgiving break.

They were staying at New York New York, their first time in Sin City. Someone on a overhead walkway above the casino floor area brandished a hand gun, and began to randomly fire down onto the gaming floor. It's hazy, but I believe he did injure three people (no fatalities luckily).

The bizarre thing is, the casino NEVER SHUT DOWN - with a person firing a weapon and injuring people. Talk about putting a value on human life!!! The almighty gambling reigns supreme! My neighbors were shocked; on the floor at the time, uninjured, but absolutely shocked at the procedures and protocol following the event.

And you are right - looking for decent alcohol on the strip outside of a club or bar is non-existent.

Well, never made it to rum jungle but I have a feeling I didn't miss out on anything. However, the pool bar at the LV Hilton uses Angostura 1919 and 1824 - for mixing. An unexpected find.

And Adam - I've got the wife and in-laws all set to visit in early June. Should we make reservations or just pop in?

Wow! That's pretty unusual I'd say! I'll be out in Vegas at the Rio for four nights end of April, I'll have to check out what's around and being used at the bars - and of course head over to LVH to give it a whirl. I really enjoy 1919; it's one of the best rums I've yet to sample.

If you're coming for dinner, reservations are recommended, especially for Thursday, friday, or saturday. But we do have service at the bar, which can be a lot of fun staring at all our rums. We should be at 120 by June as we're getting J.M., Cockspur, Moleca, Lemon Hart, and maybe some Don Q and Zacapa on the horizon. When in June are you coming? We have a few fun events in June which would be a lot of fun not to miss... although itll be a little crazy, would the in-laws be up for it?

I will be going to rum jungle in a few months while in Vegas with my wife. I really have no high expectations but a friend relayed that they do a pyrat "flight" and they have pyrat cask. Thats what Im going for, perhaps if I see others I am looking to try... but I am going to try cask. I cant find a bar with it up here and Im not willing to drop $267.49(yes, Ive checked several stores) without tasting a drop.
