Sailor Dave
Hi: my name is David, I hail from the Caribbean island of Dominica but I now live in Missouri. I come from a family of sugar-cane growers where we supplied the molasses to the Belfast Rum Distillery in Dominica for many years until a major hurricane destroyed our plantation. I have sailed the wild seas as a crew member of an ocean freighter for the better part of twelve years and have sampled more than my fair share of rum. Recently, I discovered Kraken rum and it is among one of my favorites. I have been an avid drinker of Mount Gay Extra Old rum and Sailor Jerry's, but this Kraken taste has got me returning again and again. I certainly hope to be sharing my experiences with you and be able to learn something also. Thank you for having me. Salute!

Greetings from Long Island
I've been a rum aficionado for many years, so I'm pleased to have found this site. I've always felt that rum doesn't get the respect it deserves, so I am constantly proselytizing, urging others to try it. My opinion is that there are very fine rums which at least equal, and in some cases, surpass those highly touted cognacs and armagnacs. Some of my favorites are Pyrat XO Reserve, Ron Zacapo Centenario and Barbancourt Reserve.

Thanks for your welcome
I live in Cleveland, OH; learned to drink rum as part of Christmas in California. Came to the Mojito later in life, after already having understood that rum made an excellent alternative to brandy, Armagnac, Calvados, etc. Have been astounded to discover how much variety and flavor can be found in this drink. I am especially pleased to discover that the Ministry of Rum describes flavors and nuances. I look forward to learning much more about this delicious distillate.
All best,
phanen

intro
Hello from the San Francisco east bay area. I love your site. I found it while looking for info about One Barrel Rum after tasting it in Belize. It sure hit the spot while in the rain forest! Hubby and I also like Zaya and Cruzan.

Hi from north Idaho. I read about the Ministry of Rum in the book An Embarrassment of Mangoes and decided that I need to pay way more attention to rum. I'm not knowledgeable about beyond just drinking it, so I'm looking forward to hanging out here and learning.
