White Rums

Whether you call them, clear, silver, white or simple 'see through' how do you drink them?

Default Are there more calories in flavored rums like coconut rums than in straight white rum

I am watching my calorie intake, but still want to have an occasional treat once in a while (without going overboard). So, I was wondering is there generally a calorie difference between two rums of the same proof where one is coconut and the other is just white?

Welcome to the forums, please take a minute and introduce yourself in the Introduction section of the forum.

As for calories, most coconut flavored rums contain a sweetener, either high fructose corn syrup or cane sugar, but many coconut flavored rums are bottled at a reduced alcohol content - below 40% abv.

So like so many things, there isn't an easy answer unless you know more about the product. I would try to contact the producer but don't expect to get answers to all your questions as easily as writing an email.

I say burn'em and see which one burns the brightest.

Ed is right though, the answers lies between additives and ETOH%.

Are you drinking these straight? Though I suppose it doesn't matter with the zero cal. sodas these days.

Kind of tough to wade through. For me I'd either concentrate on my calorie intake or enjoy my spirit/pour. I wouldn't try to manage (or mitigate) both simultaneously.

"Diet Rum"... the next sensation.

I've never known anyone who lost weight drinking Diet anything. My best advice, and I'll say it's worth what I charge you for it, is moderation is the key to success.
Want a drink and don't want too many calories? Enjoy one drink, but make it special. Don't use the cheapest mixer - if it contains an ingredient list that doesn't slide off your tongue, put it back. Or better yet, use fresh ingredients and good spirits and leave it at that.

Moderation is the key to success and either before you enjoy your indulgence, or the next day. Do some extra exercise so you'll continue to feel good about what you drink and you'll feel good about the choices you've made.

A load of sugar or hfcs is like a good coat of paint, it will hide a multitude of sins.
