I've been drinking bourbon for a couple years and I've aquired a pretty sizeable bunker in that it's time to start branching out and widening the variety of spirits in the bunker. When I first started drinking Rum and Coke was my drink of choice...mostly Myers Dark and Captain Morgan. Since I drink most if not all of my bourbon neat I'm pretty used to high proof offerings so the 80 proof that most rums are bottled at aren't an issue to sip neat so I can really enjoy the rum for what it is.

So far I've bought l a number of what I'll classify as sipping rums...those are Vizcaya XO, ED 15, Diplimatico, and some old bottles of Pyrat XO from the late 90's. Of those bottles the old Pyrat XO has been the one that I've enjoyed the most. The ED15 has a iodine taste to it that it will take some getting used to...the Vizcaya was good but a little sweet for me to drink all the time. I haven't tried the Diplimatico yet but that will happen later this week.

As a member of multiple other forums ranging from audio to cars to bourbon to rum I'm looking forward to learning a bunch from you all!

Welcome to the forums hectic1. Sounds like you're busy. I can't even keep up with one forum. Glad to read you're branching out to try other spirits and that rum is on the list. Happy sipping.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.
