Hello from Gold Coast!
Hi, all! I'm James Walker from Gold Coast, Queensland. I'm a rum collector and enthusiast, who tries anything from Zero to Hero, to find the best quality among all spirits out there. Very much looking forward to be part of the discussions here!

Rums of Vieques?
Greetings,
In a few days, I'm headed to Vieques, Puerto Rico, to celebrate Christmas with family. While there, I hope to tour the Barillito distillery.
I found this forum after searching "can you find cachaça in vieques" on google. Seems there's someone on these forums who resides there.
While in PR, I hope to enjoy a wide range of rums in a wide variety of styles: neat, with fresh coconut water, and perhaps an old fashioned or batida as well. I am the spirits enthusiast in my family and I'd like to give everyone a wide ranging rum experience.
Any advice on Puerto Rican rums is greatly appreciated. Look forward to chatting with everyone.
Matthew

French rhum lovers present !
Hello there...I thank you for letting me take part in the forum. Indeed, we have often shared the same interests in Rhum. I hope to add another point of view in tasting and appreciating this wonderful product, often not taken very seriously here in France. FT

New to this group
Wow.... I really look forward to reading about the excellent rum reviews and trying even more fine rums.
I started drinking dark rums in the late '60's while working for Eastern Airlines and doing work in the Islands. Fifty years later, they are still my choice of beverage!
Thanks!
Tad

Happy to find the site.
I have limited history with fine rums of the world, but have sampled a few, in the BVI's. Not sure of the name of the distiller, but I do remember it began with a "Z", and I have sampled this at both T.H.E. in Jackson, NH and Chez Bamboo, Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda. and this is my favorite so far. Looking forward to learning more.

Rum Novice
I am just starting to get into mixing drinks (at home) and that very quickly leads you to the world of rum. And what a large interesting world it is. I feel like a kid at his first day of school, my level of rum knowledge is miniscule, I only just found out today that Bacardi make more than one rum. Boy, I've got some learning to do!

Hi everyone!
My name is Basil. I’m new to this site, and to drinking rum as well (I indulge mostly in Czech beer or Single Malt Scotch Whisky, preferably from Islay). With Scotch, reading forums was of tremendous help to me, as I was striving with its diversity (and complexity) living in a part of the world where people tend to gravitate mostly towards wine, maybe cognac/brandy, and all sorts of vodka.
I would love to learn to understand, appreciate and enjoy fine rums (and be able to pair it with cigars).
Looking forward to a whole new experience. Greetings and cheers,
