El Dorado maturing
I read on another forum that El Dorado Demerara Dark Rum is an exception from other rums (?) in that it doesn't benefit on maturing...?
Can someone explain this?

I'm sorry I can't be of assistance but that statement seems like it is almost purposely designed to beg question. I'm not sure in what sense the author of the statement meant it, to begin with.
"Demerera Dark Rum" with no maturation? Perhaps the statement is an opinion that the individual felt El Dorado or a particular iteration is better young rather than extensively matured?
At any rate, El Dorado in general appears to be a product of some serious blending. I'm not sure how to apply the statement you copied.

Perhaps it is simply that the dark rum is not aged, and the appropriate cuts of the distillate were chosen accordingly.

I was reading today about how Pusser's is darkened principally with caramel. Source is Coulombe's "Rum".

Got it, but the point is the caramel is principal. The spirit has "some" age on it, right? It isn't off the still, caramel added and bottled.
I think maybe where ever Tiare's quote came from, the person might have been trying to say something like they think the spirit doesn't need or require extensive or significant maturation.

if my memory serves, which is always dodgy, that is the lowest end of the ED rums, noticeably cheaper than the 5 year old. i suspect that instead of "on maturing" it is "from maturing" as in, it is not aged, its just pumped out.
haven't tried the dark as the only place i've seen it had the 5 year at about 7 a bottle, and i figured at that price point, why go lower?

Please permit me to correct this statement. ED Dark Rum is lightly aged.
