I have to ask the question on price with this one. While I am extremely pleased to hear of such an offing by appleton, I hesitate slightly with the price. Why can I get a wonderful 18 to 25 yr old product for the very agreeable price of $40 to $60, and a 30yr is Almost $200 more? I don't see the logic, unless they're really shooting for a very small amount of production.

My friends, as the premium rum market grows, I think we will see more small batch releases of aged and special blends/editions and vintages. I am a huge Appleton fan, but I am very pleased with the offering of 21 even at 70 to 100 USD. How much better will the 30 be at 250? It remains to be seen. Then, of course we have the Appleton Legacy rum, which is up there in price. Based on the consistency and quality of Appleton, I am sure it will be excellent. But that price point is pointy.

1,440 bottles at $250 is $360,000 gross. After the cost of making 288 gallons of a limited edition, old aged rum, plus bottling, shipping and distributing the product, plus a bit of advertising, the budget seems quite small.

Like the Appleton Estate 21, the entire annual run will sell out in the distribution channels quickly.

Especially as I have 6 on order....
Hey I'm glad to see brands like Appleton producing limited edition rums at stupid prices. (Yes I know I've ordered 6) But products like this will turn heads and could bring a new crowd to the global rum table. Even if it is only because the product is more expensive than the "run of the mill rum". Question. How much in Dollars does a 30 year old Glen Moray limited edition go for ?

Does any one know if Appelton's 30 or 21 mark the age of the youngest or oldest rum used?
