Greetings Fellow Rum Forum Members
I'll admit that my knowledge of Rum thus far, is limited to liking or not liking what I drink and then promptly forgetting all about it. I didn't forget that I liked a Rum called Old Monk when I was in India but then went back to my usual beer and red wine when I got back home but always remembering how good I thought it tasted.
Now a couple of years ago a friend of mine sold his house and moved to Canada. There were a few items left behind in the house and I cleaned up what was left and brought home the seemingly old bottle of Rum I found in the small but unusual basement that was accessed by pull up doors and a staircas that went down from outside of the house. Why unusual you ask? ... well because this is Southern California and for the most part we don't have basements here.
So I consider myself a fairly good Internet researcher, and although I could find mention of the distributors for this bottle of Rum, I really don't know much about it. Maybe it is something cool, maybe it is nothing special at all. Perhaps it is still drinkable? I have no idea but that is what brought me here and while writing this I am really craving some of that Old Monk I had in India or something that tastes like it so in the spirit of this Forum, I will head out to the liquor store to find something that will satisfy that desire once I'm done with this introduction.
I have pictures ready to post of the bottle but I don't know if it will work... This is a sealed bottle in theory, meaning it still has the cork and label over it but who knows...

Well... the bottle looks pretty old and I'm tempted to drink it but it might be bad and kill me so off to the store I go! What do you forum experts think I should do with it? Pour it down the drain or???
