Cayrum - New Rum
There's a new rum coming to the states in January. The brand is owned by one of my cigar-smoking friends, Todd Kane. It's a Dominican rum with natural ginger and honey. He was going to market it as Chillixer but the name wasn't allowed as an 'elixir' apparently indicates medicinal properties, so it's coming to market as Cayrum.
He's shipped his first 14,400 to the states and he's got more being bottle now. He's targeting to have it priced around $35.00. When he was developing the formula he used to share it with us at the cigar shop, it's excellent over ice and very refreshing on a hot day.
Their website is live now at www.cayrum.com and there's a bit more info there. I believe he said he's got GA, SC and FL agreements now and more in the works - but I could be mistaken.

Not sure, you're the second person that's asked me that. I'll see what I can find out.

I'm assuming this is being marketed as a spiced rum?

I'd be interested in it. Sounds like it'd go down great over ice on a nice hot summer day. One of my favorite cocktails involves rum and honey, canchanchara

Chatted a bit with Todd Kane about the rum... here's the update.
Marketed as a spiced rum?
- Yes.
Distributed in California?
- Not initially but at some point, yes.
Distributed in Canada?
- No plans for Canada at this point but he did say he's not "anti-Canada". If the rum goes over well in the states and there's a demand then it's a possibility in the future.

I'll add Cayrum as soon as I get some verified information about this new rum. I don't see anything on the importer's website and they haven't registered on this site.
