Bacardi Spiced Rum
Has anyone heard a rumor of a new Bacardi Spiced drum coming in June?

Drum or Rum ?? After a few of my Appleton VX mixes I have heard just about everything.
If you mean RUM then "NOPE" have not heard of that one.

I really enjoyed the old Bacardi Spice, even if it was a while since I had it. Rememeber buying it on a trip to Ft. Lauderdale years and years ago. Wonder if I still would appreciate it... Let's hope there is a new one it's way.

That must have been a late night post. Bacardi Spiced Rum, not Spiced Drum. It sounds the same though. I think it's coming soon.

I picked up a bottle before Xmas at a "hurricane sale". Apparently all the items in the sale came from St.Martin after a liquor company's warehouse was flooded in a hurricane last summer. The liquor sold fast, I bought about 30 bottles of various rums, most just had damaged labels. The wines are still there, damaged and been under water and no AC for a while, a hard sell!!
The spice is not a favourite for sure, hopefully they will give us a new version of it that will be better this time. Is it a reaction to the Capt. moving out of PR and sailing east??

If that doesn't look like someone starting a rumor I'm missing something. Good work Rob.

I think we have the answer with the release of the Seven Tiki Spiced Rum in the USA, which is under the Bacardi Global Brands line-up.
Go figure why the worlds largest rum producer is contracting a Fijian distillery to produce a spiced rum!
I posted the press release in the Rum News forum.

Bacardi acquired this rum when they acquired another spirits portfolio (i think it was 42 Below, but not positive).

My wife is in Florida looking for it. If I happen to get a bottle of it I will make sure to put my 2 cents on it. Most of you know I am a spiced rum lover, and have loved my Four Square so far, and beiing that this Tiki Rum is 70 proof I can't imagine it being to far off from the other spiced rums. We shall see.

You are most likely right forrest. It's hard to keep up with who is taking over who.
One interesting point is that Bacardi-Brown Foreman did a "soft launch" of this brand in the Uk in conjunction with the UK Rum Fest back in October '08. Here is the link.
You can see not only is the bottle different, the label states an aged rum bottled at 40% ABV.
What they are releasing in the USA is a totally different product under the same name. It's now a spiced rum bottled at 35% ABV.
Robert Burr was right in that Bacardi was to introduce a new spiced rum onto the USA market. We just did not know that it would not have the Bat on the label.
