My favorite is a little known rum from Hawaii. Maui dark rum from Maui. I think it is only sold on Maui.

You can find a small amount of Maui rum in CA but I haven't seen it in many places.
Welcome to the forums.

I'm a long time rum buff and collector. Having lived and worked in 25+ countries, many of them rum producers, the closet nonetheless always seems to be empty. I joined to forum to continue my "research"...

I was a member some time ago but no longer remembered by login or password, so I start a new.
My rum preferences tend toward those best for sipping straight or once ice. While I don't hold it against anyone who enjoys their rum with cola, those rums are not to my taste.

Welcome to the forums again. If you have your old email address I can generally find it in the database.
I don't drink cola either but it's not the rums that others mix with cola that I don't drink, it's the mixture. I just mix those rums with other things like fresh juices.
But as discussed in a lot of other places in this forum. there is a big difference between cola made with sugar and high-fructose-corn-syrup, despite the new ad campaign by the corn sugar marketing council in the US.

Howdy,
I'm a ex-US Navy sailor who developed a taste for rum while living in the Fl keys. I made multiple bareboat sailing trips in the BVI, where I picked up a copy of Ed's book ( at Foxy's ). I now call the San Diego area home, but try to get to the tropics every few years. I recently have gotten into classic cocktails, including tiki drinks. I hope to share some interesting recipes on this forum soon.

new to the forum
mr. hamilton, i am new to the forum and look forward to all the information that i can get. i have traveled to honduras and nicaragua three times each. all for the experience and knowledge of tobacco. i am now searching for the knowledge of rum. i will start with these two countries as i have a vast selection of contacts. i would appreciate suggestions on two other countries in the caribbean to travel. i am interested in the production and manufacturing of rum. i am spending time in my home, omaha, nebraska learning the art of distilling with a local producer/distiller in omaha. i will read the forum and learn as much as possible. thank you for your time!

Hello everyone.
I'm a new member who stumbled upon this site whilst researching Lemon Hart Rum. I'm from London and do enjoy a good rum (perhaps too much at times), but I can't say that I'm an expert. I also can't profess to be an old sailor or anything since I've worked in the leisure and entertainment industry for the last 20 years. I will say, however, that it was my late father who introduced me to the pleasures of rum, he WAS an old sailor who spent a good portion of his life traveling the world with the Royal Navy (before they abolished the daily rum ration), so you could say that it is in my blood.
I hope to learn a lot more.

Hello from Florida
Hello all,
I just signed on after reading about Ed in "The Spice Necklace". We have been buying Angostura's Old Oak Gold for over 20 years, after happening upon the Limbo Drummer bottle almost accidentally. I tried to order another case of our favorite recently, only to be told it is no longer available. One bottle left... I am now in search of a new oak-flavored replacement. I'm looking forward to any recommendations, and to learning more about rum!
Cheers!
