Hi there

I am from New Zealand down under and a big fan of rum in any shape or form. Such a big fan that I thought it would be good idea to start a rum company - Stolen Rum. I am heading back to the Caribbean in a couple of weeks to blend some new variants of rum which i am pretty excited about.

Hello all,

Found this site as a result of trying a first "sipping" rum -- Zaya Grand Reserva -- and loved it (so did my wife). I am a long time scotch and bourbon maven. If there are any other scotch/bourbon folks on who can recommend rums based on my scotch/bourbon taste, please forward a note to me.

Favorite scotches are Islay (Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Bruichlladdich) also like Aberlour A'bunadh. Bourbons are the wheated ones -- specifically Weller -- really like the William Larue Weller bottlings. Also enjoy Buffalo Trace and the new "legal" moonshine offerings (White Dog).

Glad I found this group and am looking to exploring the world of sipping rum.

Ken

Welcome fellow Michiganian. I too enjoy bourbon and the Weller stuff is great. As is Pappy Van Winkle. I suggest you try Chairmans Reserve Rum, a staple in my rum bar.

Try Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva. It's available in Michigan. I got a bottle at Red Wagon Wine Shoppe in Rochester Hills. Fantastic stuff and it has a light smokiness to it.

I found this site by looking for rum recipes. I need to recommend some good spirits for outdoor parties. There are many to choose from here. Wow! I came to the right place.

Talking 00pan

I like to say hello my name is Sean and I'm an avid rum drinker. Mostly dark rums like Appleton which I develop a taste for when I got married in Jamacia 11 years ago. I currently trying my hand at making my own rum and love any advice, mash recipes & distilling procedures.
Thank you

Dear all,
I am new to the forum and look forward to interact with the community. Rum indeed is a fantastic drink, though often misunderstood by the masses as being only rum and coke, but surely many other paths lead to Rum(e). I feel obliged to spread the words that rum offers high quality and taste diversity.
Best regards,
