Waitrose has knocked another pound off the Angostura 1919. It's now Ј17.00.

I was wondering about that. Angostura 1919 is Ј4 more than El Dorado 5 year old?

This is a great time of year to pop into Waitrose. It's discount-a-rama on all kinds of alcoholic beverages! As well as these great rum deals they also have fantastic offers on a dozen or so Single Malts.

Yes, Angostura 1919 is Ј17.00 till 1st December 2009, while El Dorado 5 year old is Ј13.99 till 5th January 2010. So the difference is Ј3.01. The El Dorado 5 year old is the new "cask aged" 5 year old, not the old one. I haven't seen the old one in London for a number of years now, although I dare say you can still get it in Guyana.

£4 off each bottle of Eldorado 5 and Chairmans Reserve! Bargain! I don't live that close to a Waitrose so when i passed through Monmouth on Saturday I stopped at their Waitrose and stocked up on 4 bottles of ED and two CRes. Should keep me going over Christmas!

Waitrose have started their Christmas promotions run. The deal of the month on rums is probably the Cockspur 12 for Ј15 (the ED5 is still on offer at Ј14).
I passed on the rum this time though. They have some irresistable offers on wine that I decided to go for instead. And if you like Single Malts, there are some great offers on those too. I would buy the whole shop, but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Yes, and they also have Cockspur 5 star reduced from Ј13.39 to Ј9.99.
Interestingly, Waitrose insist that Cockspur 12 is a twelve year old rum, although the label on the bottle doesn't make the same claim.
