Just posted a new review on Refined Vices. This time we take a look at Mount Gilboa from Barbados. Read all about it here.

Brought back a bottle of it in Feb and I've yet to open it (I ALMOST don't want to.) Thanks for the review - I look forward to finally cracking it open one day.

Hello, we're new and we're back!
We're proud to announce our newly redesigned website! We've done a complete overhaul of the design, the rating system, awards and are now using the Gargano rum classification! Most reviews will have all kinds of extra information like sugar content estimates, distillation styles and other fun details. Everything has been revamped so go check it out now!
The first new review of 2017 is also out and we're tasting a couple of cask strength copper pot still rums from St. Lucia, read the full review here.
As always any feedback is welcome.

We review the simple but delicious Captain Bligh XO. Read the review here.

Wonderful. I visited the St Vincent distillery in 2015, although they were doing routine maintenance at the time, and no rum was being made. That, incidentally, seems to be the case at most of the distilleries that I visit. However, Captain Bligh XO is one of my favourite rums, whereas Sunset Very Strong is one of my least favourite.

Distilleries are probably not making rum all the time, my advice would be to find out when the production is the busiest and try and visit at that time. Sunset Very Strong is an interesting one, very high ABV but packs a lot of flavour.

There's more to Australian rum than Bundaberg. I recently reviewed a couple of pot still cane juice rums from a new distiller. Check out the reviews here and here.
I've also reviewed a couple of new rums from a company called EKTE Spirits based in Denmark. EKTE Spirits is a different kind of company to most as they actually tell you if you they've used any sugar or other additives in their products and this information is freely available on their website.
Pungent & Geeky was an interesting rum that I would recommend to those who are not quite yet ready to jump in the deep end of Jamaican high ester rums.
The No. 2 however is a different beast altogether and packs some serious flavour.

New review Plantation Rum review has been posted. This time I got to try the limited Extreme edition from St. Lucia. I thought this one was much better than some of the other offerings and the higher proof definitely makes things more interesting.
