Default Rum Restaurants

I visited Bahama Breeze in Las Vegas this week. Yowza! 30 rums by the shot! and with my meal I picked Rhum Barbencourt 3 star. Mmmmmmmm!

They served me 2 - 2 1/2 ounces in a brandy snifter, which made the olfactory appreciation of the rum amazing. The food was incredible, I had the seafood Paella and my wife had the lobster fettuccini. To die for.

Long live Bahama Breeze!

Bruce Smith, whose artwork adorns the Bahama Breeze restaurants is an old sailing friend who contributed a lot of artwork for my books. I'm glad to hear Bahama Breeze is finally getting their rum list together, that was one of the goals years ago when they opened their first restaurants in Florida.

A while back I worked for Bahama Breeze (owned by Darden Restaurant Group... think Olive Garden and Red Lobster) Their rum list (back then) was deceiving. A list of 30+ sipping rums, however, they only had what was available. They may have had Half of what was listed... of course, this was in PA, other states would probably have a wider selection.

Food there is terrific though. Drinks are a little too froo-froo.

Bahama Breeze in Las Vegas is VERY near the strip, but a little difficult to find.

IF you know the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo (think Bill's Casino --- the old Barbary Coast) you have to go East on Flamingo a mile. When you see the smallish, funny-named casino Terrible Herbst, you're there. Bahama Breeze is right across the street.

But the tough thing is, you can only get to B.B. on WESTBOUND side of Flamingo, so you have to drive past B.B (going east) too far, then do a U-turn (they're legal in Vegas about everywhere) to come back westbound. I've driven by it a million times, its clear to see, but its tough to get into their parking lot.

Easiest of all is probably to take a cab or bus to Terrible's, and then walk across Flamingo Ave on your own

Clear as mud?
