Angostura Reserva

I live in Taiwan. If you didn't already know, Asia is a virtual rum desert. Last year I was able to get Ron Matusalem Platino for my summery, white rum drinks. I don't know if it'll be available again this year. Angostura has a strong presence here, so I was wondering what you thought of their Reserva for Mojitos. Is there another refreshing cocktail for beating the heat that this rum is good for?

I'm not a fan of Angostura rums. I find them far too vanilla.

In Taiwan I quite like Pampero (seems widely available and cheap). Havana Club also ubiquitous and not bad.

Where in Taiwan are you based? I'm there again in a couple of weeks.

I've had Reserva recently and was a bit disappointed in it. It wasn't necessarily bad but it was mediocre. I was expecting it to be much better than their other white rum (white oak) and it wasn't.
I thought it had notes of vanilla and pineapple. It's ideal of a daiquiri though; http://cestlavibe.com/classic-daiquiri-recipe/

Angostura 5 year old and 7 year old is nice though!

Yes, the Pampero is probably the best white rum here. The Angostura probably second. Not a fan of Havana Club 3.
