Default Castries Peanut Rum Cream...

...is wonderful! I've finally got to try it, as I met David and Clyde, the CEO and president of Castries yesterday.

Thanks to a suggestion from Scotte, I just HAD to try it. It opens with sweet cream and spices, then at mid-palate the flavor of the St. Lucian rum hits you. The finish, filled with peanuts (not like peanut butter) is very satisfying. The taste stays on your palate for about 3-4 minutes after a sip, amazing!

David and Clyde are really great guys, and I wish them the best of luck with their product. I think they've got the right idea with their marketing approach... replace Baileys! Every bar should have Castries on their shelf instead of the rancid Baileys. (Okay, I hate whiskeys)

I really did like that stuff a lot. A bunch of us finished the bottle at a rum tasting I did, and it was a hit with at least 6 of the 8 people who tried it. Nice stuff, unique, and very well made.

And it's unexpected. Peanut. Rum. Cream. What's up with that combination? It really makes you wonder... until you taste it. Delicious.

Now I've got to get my hands on another bottle...

I'm glad to hear you met David and Clyde. Castries rum cream is based on a traditional island recipe, another of those things that have taken a long time to get from the islands to the US.

Yea, they said they picked St. Lucia to make their rum because they were currently making a rum called Nuts and Rum which actually had chunks of peanuts IN the rum. They said that rum was their cro-magnon man to Castries homosapient.

Default Creme and Coffee

After a recent tasting competition event in Ybor city, my son Robert and Ian Burrell from London were playing around with the rum creme and other flavored rums. Their impromptu mad-scientist-inspired combination of Santa Teresa Araku Coffee Liqueur and Castries Peanut Creme was a delight.

Its so mixable, you can about mix it with spit, and it'll still be good! Were doing it with Montecristo Premium, Godiva, and Buttershots. Its GOOOOOD....

Well now I'll absolutely have to get some of this. My wife and I have already worked through the 2 bottles of Nutz-n-Rum that we brought back from our honeymoon and 1 of 2 bottles we've had other couples bring back to us on their cruises. We love it.

My wife makes a drink called a Peter Pan that is wonderful with it. Something she picked up from the bartenders at Sandals Regency St. Lucia.

In addition to Nutz-n-Rum jfrom St Lucia, in Antigua there's Nut Power. I'm surprised how long it took these peanut flavored spirits to be exported.

Here's another drink suggestion for Castries Rum Cream from Cocktail Times.
