Rum Hunts
Yesterday, I hit up about 9 stores looking for some treasure. Didn't see anything worth buying. One store did have about 5 bottles of Cruzan Light Rum 2-Yr. (Didn't buy any of it though)
Whats the furthest you have traveled to buy a rum and which rum was it? Today, mine will be a 2 hr drive to a store that has a few bottles of Plantation Rum "Venezuela" old reserve 1992. Also, whats the most amount of liquor stores you explored in one day? -So far mine has been 9.

I did quite a bit of rum hunting this summer in my various travels. I have started a new rum blog to chronicle my adventures with rum and other stuff.

I'm still in the process of writing about all of my rum hunts this summer, but there are two posts already up about my rum hunting.

I usually hit a number of stores in the Tampa area when I go for business. Pick up quite a few from Total Wines and More. great prices.

Coasty, were you successfull with the plantation Venezuela? There are two places in New England that listed them on the web but when called said they had'nt had them in a year. I hope you had success.

About 18 months, I bought 2 bottles of the Plantation Venezuela in Mansfield, MA just off the 95 about 30 miles south of Boston. I was on one of my east coast hunts and used the internet to find it, too. I find a stray bottle every 6 months or so. Let me say that this was one of the best in their line of rums and worth the search.

I stop in almost every liquor store I see when I travel. I am often on a motorcycle so that limits how much booty I can carry home.
Earlier this summer I found two old Pyrat XO's in Orlando - along with some great Bourbon and Single Malt dusties.
A few weeks ago I headed in another direction and within 4 hr of home I found more old Pyrat XO more Zaya Guatamala, an older Matusalem and an old El Dorado 25 that was very heavily discounted because it had been on the shelf for "at least 5 years". There were lots of Montecristo and some Plantation Rums too but I'll have to make another trip to pick them up.

That ED25 is amazing! Weve got it on our shelves, but even I dont indulge. Ive only tasted it twice, and not eniough to do a full tasting. But I do remember that it was among the greatest bits of juice to touch my lips. I suppose one day Ill sit down and taste the 5-25.
