Default Introduction

Hello from the frozen tundra of Minnesota. I have been sailing the big Lake and some of the smaller ones for decades. A little racing and a lotta cruising. Oh, and a good sampling of rum. Prefer the sippin' rums but not opposed to the macro-distilled mixed with cola. Cheers!

Hi there, you all. I am a Dutchman, living in S-W France, where I early retired in 2000. The offer of rum in France is quite good, ' cause their old colonies, now called DomTom's (Domaine ou Territoire d' Outre Mer, or overses dominion or territory) were always molasses producers, Like Martinique, Guadaloupe and Reunion. Martinique is to the French, what Jamaica was for England.
Personally I prefer Reunion rum, especially the older ones, but the Martinique white variety can be surprisingly good, depending on the brand.
As I am staying a lot in the Far East, currently Thailand, I would be interested if anyone has tried the white rum of Thailand, like Ruang Khao, Phai Thong, Niyomthai and White Tiger and White Bear, and if so, what the conclusions were.
I have tried their Samsong amber rum, but was not impressed.
I would also like to read some comments on Philipine Rums, as I plan to go there and this year.

I just came upon this site looking for information on Demerara Rum. I am a retired teacher and spend my time making cocktails for Retirement Communities in the area. That is when I'm not making cocktails for my wife and friends. Life is so taxing.

Default Hi - Intro

Greetings from Texas! I'm an engineer in the Austin area. I like chess, and as it turns out, rum! Started with mojito, had a pricey lame one, and figured I could do better myself. Moved on to other rum cocktails from there. Have a few favorites now, but plenty more discovery and experimenting to do yet.

Default Hello, gentlemen.

Greetings, all. I am retired after 50 yrs in construction. I have decided to look at some rums after getting a little bored with bourbon. The selection of good quality rums is limited here in NC. Currently I have some Zacapa 23, Appletons 12, Mount Gay Extra old, Brugal 1888 and Zaya. Haven't opened any of these, and will be asking for some info and advice after reading what I can find on the web.

Later, Iron bottom

I am a rum lover, collecting some bottles for my retirement. just come upon the site looking for additional information on "Duquesne Rhum Agricole". I prefer dark rum straight or on the rock but I am ready to discover more.

Default Hello from Denmark

Just a fellow rum lover from Denmark.
Although I feel like a young cub in this forum I hope to learn a lot more about the precious drink that is rum.
Due to being a family father with certain financial responsibilities my collection so far is not that overwhelming. But Slow and steady wins the race
