Thanks Ed for creating this forum. I used to spend a lot of time lurking on the rum forum when it was @ egullet. Spent some time away from my online libations studies and when I finally checked back in over there I was sad to see no rum specific forum.
Happy to have found the new spot.
Cheers,
Scott

Hello All !!
Just an informal introduction.
I'm a cigar and spirits lover, just back from the Dominican Republic.
Enjoyed my fair share of Brugal Extra Viejo and Barcelo Gran Anejo.
I've never been a student of rum, so I'm looking forward to learning from some of the more enlightened.
Bought my first "nice" bottle of rum on a trip to St Martin years ago (J Bally 1982) and I'm looking to expand
Thanks and cheers !!

Nice to be here. I stumbled onto this site looking for information about my favorite rum, Diplomatico. It is by far, the tastiest rum I have come across in my limited experience with rums. I am a converted scotch and vodka enthusiast.

Thanks for the welcome,
I look forward to talking to other rum lovers out there as time goes by. I am from the wonderful state of Minnesota where the winter cold has payed it's yearly visit. But with a little Rum Jumbie and other fine Rums to warm my heart, it's not so bad here in the winter. . .

Hi Ed and thanks for the welcome.
I am a bourbon drinker but I also love rum. I am looking forward to receiving a great education on this site from all of the rum lovers.
Happy Trails,
Barron.

Thanks for setting this up. I am a new member just trying to find my way around this forum. I am also a Mount Gay snob. Most of my friends believe I have Mt Gay in my veins instead of blood. I have tried several other rums but have yet to find anything that comes close to Mt. Gay. I am hoping this group will expand my knowledge and lead me to other satisfying rums....
