374 years ago in 1647, there were 120 drinking houses in Bridgetown, Barbados, only 20 years after the first British colony was established on the island.

Default Bambarra Rum Launch

Found this Video of the Bambarra Rum Launch while surfing today. Unfortunately I didn't get to talk on camera as my glass was empty and I was running the Bambarra Reserve and Education Bar. I can be seen in a few shots though!! Most things the reporter says are not true!!

Inaccurate reporting? That's absolutely, well, common.

Congrats on the launch. I'm pleased to be among the first to put bottles of Bambarra on my shelves.

The story of Bambarra is a good one. A slave ship on its way to Cuba went aground in the Turks and Caicos, a British territory where slavery was abolished. The survivors created a small settlement in North Caicos and learned to live off the land and fish the sea. Many of the 5,000 or so TC Islanders can trace their roots back to these hearty ancestors.

Recently, the remains of that slave ship have been discovered, a big event for those descendants that now have a more vivid connection to their past.
