110 years ago in 1911, Arecibo played an important production role in the Puerto Rico rum industry, as it was home to the Puerto Rico Distilling Co., founded in 1911.
The entire book is fascinating. From the first chapter where we learn that drunkards built the pyramids; to the the sordid tale of the sugar-rum-slave trading triangle; all the way to cola wars of the 20th century.
I even learned that the word rum was originally called 'kill devil". The word 'rum' actually stems from a slang English word 'rumbullion'. But I'll let you get the book to work that one out.
Great Book. Nice going Rum Runner Imports for bringing it up.
